Georgia National Fair Fun.

October 7-17 is Georgia National Fair time. Some people love the rides, the animals or the fair food, but I love the Georgia Living and Heritage Hall Programs. This includes competitions ranging from quilting to cooking and just about anything in between.

Four-H clubs from different schools decorate scarecrows. Some of them are very creative.

This is the third year I have participated in the cooking competion. I did not win the first year, but last year I won 3rd place in the "Grits" competion. I was hooked. I year I have a busier schedule and could not participate in as many competions. The first one I entered was the BBQ Chicken contest. I won 3rd place. there were about 18-20 competitors. My recipe is called "Sweet and Spicy aprocot Glazed Chicken". If you have a fair near you and love to cook, check out the culinary competions. You just might win.

Camping with the "Early Bird".

This is what my closet decided to do right before we were leaving to go camping. Anyone else out in Blog land have too many clothes? I took out all of my clothes and looked at each item. I tried some on and got rid of 27 pieces. My Husband got rid of a few too. My husband repaired the closet rod and the closet is much happier. Now, to have a yard sale.

Mr Early Bird choose this campground for us. The name is fitting because he does do a lot a hard labor at work. Well, maybe not hard labor, but definitely long hours. It was time to get a way. Our children had other obligations and do not really want to go camping with us any more. So, it was just the two of us and it was perfect. Quiet, peaceful, wonderful weather, and a great campsite.

A Busy Weekend.

Friday and saturday we had a wonderful Women's conference at church. I was on the decorating committee. This was not my idea but I did help create it. All of the tables were done like this in different colors of tulle. Sadly, I did not get pictures of the food table. It was beautiful and delicious.
On Sunday, we celebrated my Husbands 50th Birthday at a local mexican restaurant.

Let's just say 50 candles makes a lot of smoke. Some little friends helped blow out the candles.

Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the colors of fall, leaves, cool days, wearing sweaters and jackets, apples, pumpkin rolls, hearty soups. I must be hungry. I am so ready for it. It has been a long hot, dry summer.

We did have a beautiful spring. An Exceptional "bloom time". We got a lot of rain early and then when everything started blooming not much rain. That let everything stay pretty and colorful for a while. But then it got hot and stayed hot.

Now, I am ready for fall. I found my boxes of fall decor yesterday and I started outside.

Time Flys.

I just got off the phone with old friend who had to cancel her visit to me. But, we did talk awhile and got caught up on our lives the last few years. I enjoyed talking with her but It would have been nice to see her in person. Call an old friend today and "get caught up".

Here are a few pictures from our camping trip to Blythe Island, Georgia a couple
of weeks ago. It was the maiden voyage of our "Little Camper". Before I left , I made a few improvements. I didn't really have a bed just a platform consisting of the 2 bench seats and the plywood shown in the picture.




I purchased two large pieces of foam for the three pieces of wood and cut them to fit. By the way, an electric knife cut through the foam like a hot knife on a stick of butter. Easy Peasey. The hardest part was getting the measurement correct so I didn't make mistake on that expensive foam. Next I covered the foam covered planks with batting and denim material. Used my $1.00 sharp shooter shown in an earlier post to attach the fabric to the wood. Sadly, I was so eager to get loaded up forgot to take a picture of the completed project. The picture shown is actually the sofa bed mattress on top of the seats. But I think you get the idea.

This was our little home away from home.

It Rednesday at "It's a Very Cherry World".

A few pictures of my red finds from last week. I spotted the red formica shelf /stand at a yardsale last week. I had been a the yardsale for a while looking at other treasures. I had not seen the shelf when I first arrived. When I saw it, I thought some one else had already purchased it. The lady having the yardsale said her husband had just put it out. It was $15. I'll take it.
The red tin was a great find for 50 cents. And I couldn't resist the wooden box for $3.00. After all I needed something to put all those buttomns in.

I wonder if there is a 10 step program?

I told my family I think I might need intervention. I would call it BBA. Button Buyers Anonymous. I bought a lot of buttons today. They were separated by color mostly in gallon size zip locks. I told myself I would just buy the bags that looked most interesting. I REALLY did not need any more buttons. After all I bought a big, big pile of them a few months back. Here are the buttons from a few months ago.

But I talked myself into it. Those little round things are so tempting. I got a really good deal. 7 bucks. And I did leave some behind. Six bags that is. But then I went back later and got those too. She only charged me 50 cents a bag. That's a whopping $10 bucks for hours of fun. Sorting , counting and crafting with these gems. Who am I kidding? I will probably never do anything with these. But I love to look at them.
The majority of these are on cards but there are some loose ones too. I will have pics of the new buttons tomorrow. Left my camera at church Thursday but I will get it back tomorrow.
