I know, It's waaay past time for an October post.

The Georgia National Fair has come and gone, but I wanted to post a few pictures. The weather was beautiful the entire time.
Heather and nephew Ben with the "Fair Bear".

Love this artist. She always has very interesting sculptures on display.
Heather said there should be an "all you can eat" wristband instead of all you can ride.
 She loved the baby chicks.
 And the petting zoo.
 Very cute apron quilt.
The 4-H "dress a scarecrow" always has some interesting characters.
This was a walking talking tree man.
My favorite part of the fair are the culinary contests. I entered two contests this year. The Sweet Georgia Peach contest and the Georgia Apple Contest. I won  3rd place in the "Sweet Georgia Peach" Contest with "Fresh and Fruity Salsa".  I won a nice ribbon and $50 dollars. Here's my recipe.

Fresh and Fruity Salsa

2 cups of frozen peaches
4 chopped Roma tomatoes
1/2 of chopped onion
1 cup of fresh pineapple
2 seeded jalapeno peppers
2 tablespoons of Honey
2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt

Blend together in a ninja style blender or in a food processor. Great with tortilla chips.

Leaving the fair in the evening. It was a fun filled day at the fair.

Karla's Fairy Page Swap

Since Karla Of Karla's Cottage posted about the fairy pages I sent , I decided I better get busy and share my pages that I made. I was going to make them almost the same but once I got started they all took on a life of their own. I also meant to give credit to The Graphics fairy. I got some of my images from her site.
I had trouble uploading pics this morning so my pictures are in no particular order.
This was the back of the pages.
This page was one of my favorites. I am going to recreate this one so I will have one of my own.
I also liked this one a lot. Okay I admit it......I liked them all.

I did keep this one for myself.

This is the fourth swap I have participated in with Karla and probably my favorite. Thank you Karla for hosting this ginormous swap. Can't wait to see my Fairy Book.

Fun Weekend filled with Friends, Family , Food and Finds!

We had a great weekend filled with lots of fun and laughter. Our friends, The Morgans came for a visit. we always have lots of laughs when Jeff is around because he is a "fungi".
Corn hole is always a challenge because Jeff has had lots of practise at all of the Falcon games he travels to. Joe is trying to keep up.
we went to lots of thrift stores, antique malls, yard sales and more junking opportunities. We all found treasures.
Sunday, the rest of the family and some friends went to the Braves game.
Good food is always better when shared with family and friends.

And lastly my birthday stash from the best friend ever. Blueberry goodness! Thank you Bert! You are the best!

Marshmallow Mushroom

Love to see mushrooms growing in the yard. Seems they spring up over night.

This looks just like a toasted marshmallow.
 So delicate and detailed.

Red Signature Quilt

A few weeks ago I spotted this quilt at my local thrift store. I love the red and the signatures. looked like it was from the thirties or forties. But I talked my self out of it. I left without it, but on the way home I turned around and went back to get it. It had a twenty dollar price tag on it. I tried to bargain a little because it does have couple of condition issues. One  of the ladies said "I'm sure you can throw it in the washer and it will come out "like new". I knew right away this quilt needed rescuing.

It looks like the "Baker" ladies and "Sims" ladies had a special occasion to commemorate. Seven of the signatures belong to them. I have tried to do some research on the names but so far have not come up with much. But they don't have to worry...... I will NOT throw it in the washer.

I am linking up with Sue at "It's a very Cherry World"

Give me a "Q" , Give me a "T", a "U" , "V", "X", "Y" and "Z"!

What does that spell? Nothing, it's the letters I need to finish my quest for completing the alphabet with initial pins. I have been collecting them now for a year and a half. I know these letters exist  because I have seen them on Etsy. I would rather hunt them down at flea markets, thrift stores and Goodwill.

I have received them  from my friend Bert, my daughter, and my Mama. Some I even purchased at Target. I am sure I will some day complete my collection.

Not sure why these are not showing up the right way. Uploaded from my iPhone.

Double Divine Day lilies!

My daughter says that I take more pictures of my flowers now than my children. Guilty as charged. I have loved day lilies for 10 years now. I think I first started growing them when I found they were pretty hard to kill. Let's just say I don't always water my plants in a consistent manner.
These are some of blooms from 2012. The blooms are winding down now but I am still finding a bloom here and there. Love this pale yellow and pink one.
This probably my biggest  day lily. The blooms are huge.

 Whoooooooooooooooo are you looking at?
