It's Rednesday today.

Visit Sue at It's a very cherry world for "Rednesday" .

I found this thermometer set earlier this week at an estate sale. I had bever seen anything like it. After looking more closely found the instructions and the missing pin. On the back of the instructions are recipes for yummy items such as banana fritters, buttermilk doughnuts, french fried potatoes, corn fritters, deep-fat fried chicken, deep-fat fried onion rings, deep-fat fried oysters or scallops and drop doughnuts. I believe this was way before the low-fat era. Hmmmm a doughnut sounds very good right now.

  1. What an interesting red for today. Not many thermometers have recipes with them.

  2. What a great find! Is that a meat and a candy thermometer?...with a baster, timer....It looks like it's never been used!
Deep-Fat Fried Chicken sound good. They say there is a big difference in taste with lard....I have been tempted to buy a tub of it and make a batch of chicken just to see, but LOL...someone might see me......I wonder if they's put it in a brown wrapper......

  6. Wow! Completely in tact in the box! I guess the original owner wasn't much of a cook.

  7. You'll have to try the doughnuts and let us know. I'm always looking for a doughnut recipe that's more like what you get at the store. Aren't unexpected treasures the greatest?
